What's The Weather, Man?

This might be because Matthan always hears his mom ask me what the weather's going to be the next day, but he decided to copy the weather forecast and tape it to the side of the house.

And Adriel...

Finally...

The switch finally flipped for Matthan in soccer. All the months of telling him to be more aggressive have finally paid off! Now he just runs into people and takes the ball from them. He scored 6 goals in one game! I'm glad to hear that golf is still his favorite sport though.

Big Brother

I thought this was sweet of Matthan. We've just about got Adriel potty trained, but sometimes she needs a little encouragement. I walked in the bathroom and Matthan was reading to her to keep her on the toilet.

Front Tooth

I hate to keep posting stories of Matthan losing teeth, but this one looked to cute not to post (and I told Great Grandma Nussbaum I'd get this up). It was so funny to see Matthan's response to seeing Grandpa Jack walk into the house. Matthan knows that when Grandpa shows up, it probably means a tooth's going to get pulled. It only took two trys and out it came. I didn't have the camera, but I took a picture with my phone.

Matthan, The Artist

Matthan has always been very creative in just about everything he does. He's got a healthy interest in sports, loves music and likes to read. A while back, Amber bought him a wipe board because couldn't find enough scrap paper to draw on. Today, Matthan wanted to show me all the sports teams he cheers for, so he made this for me. He did all the logos from memory (they're not too complicated, but still), and he spelled all the words himself. I'll translate after the picture. See if you can figure it out first.

Tat Artist

Matthan's latest obsession has been temporary tattoos! He's usually wearing two at all times. He came running into my room this morning all upset because one of them came off in the bath last night. He asked if he could put on a new one and I said that was fine. A minute later, Adriel wanted wanted one too, on her chest just like Matthan. I wasn't sure if putting one on her chest might be a little weird, so we settled on her belly. I could hear him counting in the bathroom to 30 two different times...and out they come....

Soccer Time

Yesterday I took Matthan to his first soccer practice of the year in Indiana. It's a new league with some different rules, so he's trying to figure it all out. He loves to play keeper but this league doesn't allow keepers until the Under 8 league. He'll find a new position, hopefully. Amber and I have been on him about being too timid during the games, but at practice, he knocked a kid to the ground going for the ball. I'll admit it...I was secretly proud of him.

Not Paying Attention

Tooth #2...Out

Well, Matthan let Grandpa Jack pull his second loose tooth. We were eating lunch at Olive Garden and Matthan deicded he'd give Grandpa one chance to pull it. Well, it took two trys but it came out. Then the waitress came over to see if everything was ok. Amber's dad told her that Matthan bit into something in his food and it knocked his tooth out. She was mortified! She turned bright red when we all started laughing. It was pretty funny.

Breaking News: Matthan Eats Eggs!

One of the MANY foods that Matthan refuses to eat is eggs. But on Friday at school, his teacher made the class green eggs and ham and he said that he really liked them! So Grandma Harless decided she would make a special breakfast for him today...green eggs and ham. We all sat around the table and watched him eat the first bite...he said he didn't like them anymore. We told him he couldn't get up from the table until his finished what was on his plate. So, I've been sitting here with him for over an hour. We might have to sit with him is shifts.

All Kinds of Sick

We took Matthan to the doctor last week for a bad cough, hoping that it wasn't more than that. Luckily, it wasn't. So on Sunday, Adriel started with it. By Monday it had gotten worse. On Tuesday, I took her to the doctor and got her checked out. The doctor came back with a sinus infection, strep throat and pneumonia in her left lung! She's pretty miserable, but a trooper at the same time.

Basketball Awards

Matthan finished up basketball this week. They never played a game, but he had a good time learning some new drills. Here's a video of him running through the "tunnel" to get his award.

Cinderella, Cinderella

So today I was getting things ready for dinner and Adriel came up to me and asked, for what I thought was, some golf. I said, "You don't need to golf." She said, "No, a cloth." I asked her why and she said she needed to clean the squares. I had no idea what she was talking about, but gave her the cloth anyway. She went to the front door and started cleaning the entry way. Just like her favorite princess, Cinderella.

Running Late

Amber usually takes Matthan to school in the morning because Adriel usually sleeps til right at 8. If Amber takes him, I don't have to wake her up and the day is much more pleasant when she gets to wake up on her own. Well, they were just about ready to get in the car, when he comes running back into the house and into his room. He's in there for like 2 minutes, then runs back out to the car...didn't say a word. So I go in there and this is what I see...

He had run into the room to make a bed for his dog and his teddy. Then Adriel stuck one of her little dolls in there with them.

1st Loose Tooth

Matthan lost his first tooth over the weekend! It's been loose for a while and Grandpa Jack pulled it out for him! The toothfairy was pretty generous...$3! He told is if we pulled out the rest, he'd get $1000.
